Report of the exhibition Man Next Door of Rob Hornstra on regional channel RTV Utrecht, Friday 1 December.
Man Next Door
For over ten years Rob Hornstra has been working on Man Next Door, a new project that examines the stigmatisation of the working class while offering a rare insight into the life of a working-class Utrecht boy called Kid. Man Next Door is exhibited at Centraal Museum in Utrecht until 25 March 2018.
This new project contains Hornstra’s photographs, the boy’s family snapshots and excerpts from police reports. What emerges is a bewildering picture of Kid’s many personalities, inevitably raising the question: how well do you know the person who lives next door?
An eponymous publication accompanies this new project.
