Jeroen Robert Kramer (1967, Amsterdam), a former New York Times and Vanity Fair photographer studied French literature and art in France in the 1990s and moved to Beirut in 2001. He documented several wars around the globe. After having seen the worst of human kind, he became ashamed with war and himself being a war-photographer, always after the best shot, even if his subject was dying in front of his eyes. He explored these feelings of self-mistrust in his first award-winning book “Room 103” by returning to art and literature. His second book is a limited edition of an expedition he made with novelist Ed O’Loughlin in which they both portray the serene beauty of the Arctic Circle with text and images.
The photograph is part of this series ‘Arctic Circle’; a quiet and subtle take on places and people. It will be printed by Aap-Lab in Amsterdam from negative. The gallery can offer assistance with framing.
